EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Degrees in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Organizational Management, Training and Development, Educational Leadership, Higher Education Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Communications, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Five years of experience and leadership in administering, planning, designing, and delivering training and development programs, plans, and initiatives, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred. Experience in a higher education setting is highly desirable.

Responsibilities:

SUMMARY OF PURPOSE

This position will provide strategic leadership and operational support for college-wide employee training and development. The Training and Development Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing training programs, systems, initiatives, and professional development for college-wide staff and administrators. The primary objective of this role is to enhance the skills, knowledge, and performance of college-wide staff, while ensuring alignment with the institution’s strategic goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, development, and learning. This position is expected to work in a multi-cultural and diverse working environment.

TYPICAL DUTIES

  • Assesses college-wide training and development needs through surveys, interviews, focus groups, and consultation with staff and managers.
  • Collaborates with managers and staff to identify training priorities and develop customized training and development programs.
  • Designs, implements, and manages comprehensive training programs, workshops, and seminars and college-wide training initiatives.
  • Develops and manages online employee learning resources and training modules.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training and development programs and recommends improvements based upon feedback and performance data, and conducts ongoing research and benchmarking to ensure the college’s training and development programs are innovative, effective, and meeting the goals of the College.
  • Coordinates logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, venue arrangements, and material preparation.
  • Maintains records of training activities, participant progress, and program outcomes.
  • Identifies and sources external training providers, as needed.
  • Evaluates, develops, recommends, and implements college-wide training and development to improve employee skills, knowledge, and performance.
  • Solicits feedback from participants and stakeholders to continually enhance training and development programs and offerings.
  • Provides in-service training to staff and managers, as needed.
  • Supervises and mentors training staff, facilitators, and other assigned staff to effectively complete training and development college objectives.
  • Prepares and manages the training budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Stays current with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in employee training and development.
  • Fulfills other related duties and responsibilities as assigned or required by the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources.
  • Develops and implements an employee training and development strategic plan to include a multi-year roadmap, goals, and metrics to measure college-wide training and development efforts.
  • Serves as “point person” to connect College stakeholders with institutional and external resources to assist with departmental training efforts.
  • Coordinates and manages employee training and professional development and annual training.
  • Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
