As HV Commissioning Team Lead at H&MV Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of commissioning engineers and technicians in the successful execution of electrical commissioning activities.
You will ensure that power transmission and distribution systems are installed, tested, and commissioned according to industry standards, customer specifications, and project deadlines. This is a role that requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and effective communication skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent working experience.
  • Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in electrical commissioning within the power transmission and distribution sector.
  • Previous experience working with ESB/holding ESB approvals is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, switchgear, transformers, and associated equipment.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations, including IEC, IEEE.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a team of commissioning professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Proficient in the use of commissioning tools, equipment, and software applications.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to quality standards throughout commissioning activities

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of commissioning engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Define commissioning strategies, project plans, and schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and client specifications during commissioning activities.
  • Conduct pre-commissioning inspections and checks to identify any issues or risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of power transmission and distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and associated equipment.
  • Develop and maintain commissioning procedures, test plans, and documentation in alignment with project requirements.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and provide innovative solutions to ensure successful commissioning and handover.
  • Coordinate with project managers, design engineers, and other stakeholders to address technical queries and resolve any conflicts.
  • Monitor progress, track milestones, and report on commissioning activities, including budget and resource allocation.
  • Mentor and develop the skills of team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
