Responsibilities:

HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:

  • Experience of substation electrical installation works gained from electrical contracting or utility industries
  • Qualified / working towards electrician status with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds qualifications
  • Understanding of electrical engineering documentation such as wiring schedules, block wiring diagrams, electrical schematics
  • Enthusiasm to develop understanding of HV commissioning works including: -
  • Protection Theory / Principles
  • Protection relay Configuration
  • Primary and Secondary Injection testing Techniques
  • HV Cable fault location and pressure testing techniques
  • Soil resistivity and earth resistance testing techniques
  • Willingness to attend additional training to develop technical skills for progression to technician status
  • Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work proactively as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Right to Work within the UK without limitation

Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

  • Working closely with Commissioning Engineers to provide onsite assistance with commissioning activities including; point to point wiring verification, signal testing, fault finding and rectification
  • Assist Commissioning Engineers with onsite, pre and post energisation commissioning of substation equipment including transformers, tap-changers, switchgear, and protection relays to ensure Powersystems projects are delivered to the highest standards
  • Liaising with the commissioning engineer to produce and develop commissioning plans.
  • Plan and carry out electrical testing and commissioning work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures
  • Assist the Commissioning Engineer with the production of commissioning reports, test documentation and update drawings to as built status
  • Proactively look at ways to enhance the service offered by the business, and improve the efficiency of company processes
