Responsibilities:
HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE:
- Experience of substation electrical installation works gained from electrical contracting or utility industries
- Qualified / working towards electrician status with NVQ level 3 / City & Guilds qualifications
- Understanding of electrical engineering documentation such as wiring schedules, block wiring diagrams, electrical schematics
- Enthusiasm to develop understanding of HV commissioning works including: -
- Protection Theory / Principles
- Protection relay Configuration
- Primary and Secondary Injection testing Techniques
- HV Cable fault location and pressure testing techniques
- Soil resistivity and earth resistance testing techniques
- Willingness to attend additional training to develop technical skills for progression to technician status
- Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work proactively as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to Work within the UK without limitation
Duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- Working closely with Commissioning Engineers to provide onsite assistance with commissioning activities including; point to point wiring verification, signal testing, fault finding and rectification
- Assist Commissioning Engineers with onsite, pre and post energisation commissioning of substation equipment including transformers, tap-changers, switchgear, and protection relays to ensure Powersystems projects are delivered to the highest standards
- Liaising with the commissioning engineer to produce and develop commissioning plans.
- Plan and carry out electrical testing and commissioning work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures
- Assist the Commissioning Engineer with the production of commissioning reports, test documentation and update drawings to as built status
- Proactively look at ways to enhance the service offered by the business, and improve the efficiency of company processes
