Description:

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee the financial operations for one of our clients, a leading PR agency in Canada. Reporting to the President, The Financial Controller will ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, manage accounting functions, and maintain internal controls. This role is integral in overseeing budgeting, compliance, vendor contracts, and financial strategy, and will collaborate closely with the Partners and other key stakeholders.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or equivalent designation is an asset
  • 7+ years of experience in accounting, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); experience with Mac systems is a plus.

  • Plus de 7 ans d’expérience en comptabilité, dont au moins 3 ans dans un rôle de supervision.
  • Connaissance approfondie des principes et pratiques comptables.
  • Forte attention aux détails, à la précision et aux compétences analytiques avec la capacité d’interpréter des données financières complexes.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication, en présentation et en relations interpersonnelles.
  • Maîtrise des logiciels financiers et de la suite Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) ; l’expérience avec les systèmes Mac est un plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Reporting and Oversight:
  • Prepare and manage accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
  • Manage all accounting operations such as billing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Close the books monthly, review bookkeeping, and ensure the budget is up to date.
  • Process Improvement and Audit Management:
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes and systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of external audits, ensuring all financial information is accurate and accessible.
  • Vendor and Contract Management:
  • Oversee vendor contracts, ensuring they are signed, billed, and paid accordingly.
  • Manage corporate assets and ensure efficient documentation and process management.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with external accounting firms
  • Collaboration and Reporting:
  • Provide weekly updates for internal leadership meetings and prepare documents and reports for executive partners.
  • Analyze and track profitability by client account and review client expense budgets.
  • Work closely with account teams and the AP/AR department to ensure timely and accurate completion of payable and receivable functions.
  • Other Duties:
  • Assist in the review of the agency’s pricing structure annually to ensure accuracy and profitability.
  • Be present for in-person status meetings, conference calls, and events after hours as needed.
  • Handle other duties or projects as assigned.
