Job Description
The ideal candidate will report directly to the Hydrogeology Operations Manager and will work collaboratively with other members of the Ontario and Quebec Geosciences (Hydrogeology & Geotechnical Engineering) and Remediation Teams, external sub-contractors / consultants, clients, as well as professionals within other internal AECOM business lines. The position is based in our Ottawa office.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Work closely with the local Geotechnical Engineering team to build AECOM’s Geoscience services within Ottawa and the surrounding area.
  • Develop a client base within both the public and private sectors.
  • Lead the preparation of external proposals for direct client assignments and the Hydrogeology components of multi-disciplinary AECOM proposal submissions.
  • Advanced duties in quality control, planning, cost estimating and scheduling.
  • Administrative staff management responsibilities are available, subject to candidate interest.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate hydrogeology staff locally, and throughout Ontario.
  • Represent the AECOM Geosciences Team as a Subject Matter Expert on large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Manage projects and undertake technical work in accordance with contract scope of work and budget, and to company, professional, quality, and legislative standards.
  • Develop and lead field investigation programs, directing the collection and analysis of field data.
  • Oversee and implement subcontracts and purchase orders for collaboration with subconsultants/contractors, manage subs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities, landowners, and other third parties.
  • Interpret regulations and manage permitting with provincial and municipal bodies.
  • Oversee, conduct and analyze aquifer tests, and other hydrologic analyses.
  • Work with colleagues to conceptualize, build, calibrate, and utilize groundwater flow models using industry accepted software (Visual MODFLOW, FEFLOW) .
  • Oversee preparation of technical reports including potentiometric surface/water table maps, geologic and hydrogeological cross-sections, hydrogeologic model simulations, dewatering assessments, and impact assessments.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.Sc. degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or related disciplines.
  • 8+ years of Hydrogeology work experience.
  • Registered, in good standing with PGO and/or PEO.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • M.Sc. degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology, or related disciplines.
  • Ideally 10+ years of Hydrogeology work experience.
  • Registered, in good standing with OIQ (ordre des ingénieurs du Québec) would be an asset.
  • Technical proficiency in physical hydrogeology, geochemistry and report writing.
  • Experience with groundwater resources, hydrogeological assessments, MECP Permit to Take Water/EASR, construction dewatering, groundwater monitoring and/or groundwater modeling.
  • Consulting experience and knowledge of provincial and federal acts and policies.
  • Experience on High and Medium Complexity MTO or MTQ Hydrogeology projects considered an asset.
  • Strong data visualization and presentation skills required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to speak both French and English an asset.
  • Professional Geoscience work experience in the Province of Quebec an asset.
