INTERA Incorporated is looking for a mid- to senior-level Hydrogeologist / Water Resources Engineer who is ready for a stimulating consulting career with an accomplished group of professionals. This position anticipates up to 20% of regional travel and fieldwork, with most projects located in California. However, the successful candidate can enjoy the flexibility of working from home when not traveling or in the field, and you will be mapped administratively to our California team in Torrance. Responsibilities
You will be working with a technical team of geologists, hydrologists, geochemists, engineers, and GIS analysts. Our primary focus is to develop science-based, sustainable, and economical solutions to our client’s water resources/environmental challenges. As part of the team, you will be expected to:

Compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing data to develop conceptual site and numerical models

  • Performing numerical flow and transport modeling of the subsurface
  • Assisting in field efforts and quantitative studies
  • Develop and implement technical work plans
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data
  • Provide subject matter expertise to Project Managers on a variety of projects
  • Author reports, develop presentations, and interact with clients
  • Grow our service offerings and client base
  • Contribute to the science-based solutions that INTERA develops and delivers to its water resources and environmental clients.

Required Education and Skills

  • A bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in geology and hydrogeology
  • Experience with project or task management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication
  • Experience with California-specific hydrologic, geologic, and groundwater quality datasets
  • Previous experience with developing MODFLOW-based groundwater models
  • Experience analyzing/manipulating data, ideally with a scripting language, such as Python or R
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro and AutoCAD
  • Experience with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act and its regulations
  • Experience with California-specific permitting requirements
  • The ability to work independently to complete technical work
  • The ability to travel to project sites or meetings, including occasional drilling and related field activities that may last one to two weeks.
  • Excitement and enthusiasm to work with our clients to develop science-based, sustainable, and economic solutions to their water resources/environmental challenges

Desired Education, Skills, and Registrations

  • Master’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related field
  • Professional registration as a California geologist or certified hydrogeologist
  • Experience with drilling oversight, logging, and soil/groundwater sampling
  • Experience in conducting aquifer testing campaigns
  • Experience analyzing geophysical logs
  • Experience with geologic modeling software
  • HAZWOPER 40-hour certificate

California Salary Range $110K-$160K
