TFNEDC HYDROPOWER
- Plant Operator Assistant $25-30 per hour
Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation Economic Development Corporation is seeking a Plant Operator
Assistant to support the primary plant operators of the TFNEDC Hydropower Operations in their
daily and weekly duties.
Our three hydro sites Canoe Creek Hydro and Winchie Creek Hydro as well as for Haa-ak-suuk
Creek Hydro work with Specific Operators. As an Operator Assistant you will work under both
operators at all three hydro sites. With the general direction of the primary plant operator and the
plant manager, the Plant Operator Assistant is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and/or
restoring plant operations during all scheduled operating periods; ensuring safety measures are in
place and safety procedures are followed; ensuring environmental protection measures and
procedures are followed; acting as the contact person at the plant site for the corporation and
when authorized personnel are expected.
Specific responsibilities of this position are as follows.
2. TRAINING AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT
• (A detailed training program will be provided to successful applicant(s), this will
include Safety training and operations)
• Studying available documentation on the plant systems and their components.
- Taking additional operation training as required.
- Committing to continuous quality improvement of the plant operations through a
comprehensive understanding of how the plant components operate individually, and
as a system. Close observation of how the performance of the plant responds to
external and internal changes and adjustments.
