A professional engineering degree at the bachelor’s level from an ABET accredited institution in Engineering or a closely related field is required.
This position has been designated as a Non-Critical Acquisition Position. Category- Test and Evaluation. Level 2- Practitioner and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The employee must meet or be capable of achieving the APDP certification designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft (expect 5 business days per month of necessary travel).
- Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Air Force Test Center is looking for a Full-Time Hypersonics Project Engineer (NH-0801-03) to work at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), 804th Test Group, Hypersonic Systems Test Branch (AEDC/TDH) at Arnold Air Force Base.
The Hypersonics Project Engineer will be assigned to Arnold AFB, TN but will operate out of Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. Upon establishment of an Operating Location at Eglin Air Force Base in 2025, the position will be reassigned to Eglin Air Force Base.
The primary purpose of this position is to lead a team of government and support contract employees in executing Lead Developmental Test Organization (LDTO) roles and responsibilities on behalf of AFTC. The incumbent will directly engage with hypersonic program offices and test organizations across the DoD in order to solidify ground and flight test campaigns across the executing test organizations.
This includes but is not limited to shaping Test & Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), informing T&E strategy, infusing lessons-learned across programs for accelerated development, strategic interactions with open-air range assets for prompt and responsive flight test postures, active engagement with stakeholder community for timely implementation of test enabling technologies, etc.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Develop and sustain productive relationship networks among the program office, executing test organizations, and test resource providers.
- Advise program office on test requirements and their implications, as well as opportunities or risks associated with proposed activities.
- Identify test capabilities or solutions to address or accelerate fulfillment of program T&E requirements.
- Support program office test teams in guiding and monitoring contractor-led test events.
- Lead the project team’s technical, logistical, and administrative support to geographically dispersed Executing Test Organizations.
- Manage and track funding levels and execution plans for numerous parallel test activities underway at government and non-government test organizations with differing mission sets and administrative processes.
- Identify and resolve gaps and overlaps among interdependent test activities.
- Advise the Integrated Developmental Test (IDT) flight chief and squadron leadership on risks to test events and campaigns.
- Represent the AFTC at program test planning meetings.
