The I/T Professional is responsible for the support and enhancement development for a legacy mainframe application, and will have responsibility for training other team members.
This successful applicant will have the knowledge and experience to act as a senior developer, designing and developing Natural applications on Adabas backend databases. The successful applicant must have experience with Natural/Adabas, Cobol, JCL, Telon, SQL, ISPF, TSO, CA7, MoveIT automations, FTP file transfers, Appgate SDP, and CyberARK.
This position will coordinate and administer the planning, budgeting, organizing, development, control and implementation of assigned projects and guide other technical staff. The position is responsible for all aspects of highly complex assigned projects and applications, including business analysis undertaken with customers. Work is usually performed without direction, but is guided by project goals and KPIs. The position is expected to exhibit original approaches to solve complex and often specialized system development problems. This position works closely with the customer to explain the nuances of the application, investigating issues and explaining outcomes. The position will have a clear understanding of customer requirements, and the ability to design and implement programs to meet customer needs.
NOTE: the preferred work location for this position is Alberta; however, the location will be dependent on the location of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities
- Procurement, budgeting and forecasting all aspects of business case development.
- Analyzing requirements, designing, coding, testing and implementing bug fixes and enhancements to Legacy Mainframe applications.
- Providing positive leadership to team members and customers.
- Following ITIL principles and procedures with regards to Incident and Change Management
- Provide support to users for functional/business testing
- Adhere to Service Level Agreements while working in a ticket-based environment of Incident and Enhancement requests
- Lead efforts to identify and develop improvements to existing programs, systems or processes
- Coordinating with other projects to ensure efficient use of resources.
- Monitoring and improving existing systems and developing new systems.
- Assisting in major areas of proposal preparation including hardware and software options and strategies, capacity planning, methodology, application schedules and costs.
- Developing/costing computing technology solutions for complex and diverse client/business needs such as hardware, software, personnel, communications and facilities.
- Estimating programming costs and delivery dates.
- Creating detailed schedules and controlling the production of project deliverables.
- Professionally preparing, presenting and explaining products and services to customers.
- Assisting in the training of customers or ISM staff on the use of computer systems or related topics.
- Ability to participate in 24x7 rotating on-call schedule
Quién es usted
Qualifications
- University Degree in Computer Science
- 9+ years’ experience developing and supporting Natural/Adabas applications
- 2-5 years’ experience working with JCL, Telon, SQL, ISPF, TSO, CA7
- 1 or more years working with MoveIT automations, FTP file transfers, Appgate SDP, and CyberARK.
- Experience working with Government clients and in a Service Level environment
- 2+ years of experience working with GIT, JIRA, Java and ESB Web-methods
- Demonstrated experience conducting requirements sessions with users, writing design documents and test cases
- Knowledge of full-stack development, and both waterfall and agile methodologies
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively manage competing priorities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience with designing, costing and implementing client solutions.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
