Your Role and Responsibilities

  • Implement DB2 software solutions based on “high-level” design documents
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts to understand/clarify business requirements
  • Create robust external design documentation for each requirement
  • Perform performance testing and unit testing
  • Analyze production issues and provide solutions to fix technical defects
  • Provide ad-hoc technical support to Business Analysts and Product Owners

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Brand subject-matter expertise is Required. The candidate must be familiar with:

  • mainframe hardware: CECs, Engines, MIPS, Memory, LPARs, features, orders
  • mainframe software: licenses, value metrics, aggregation, MSUs, Value Units
  • mainframe revenue: hardware, software, brands/divisions, majors/minors, unbundling
  • familiarity with advanced concepts is a plus: leasing, maintenance, storage, royalties, sub-capacity, on-demand offerings

Background

  • Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or similar
  • experience working in a mainframe development environment (10+ years)
  • advanced experience in software development using SQL (10+ years)
  • advanced knowledge of DB2 for z/OS (10+ years)
  • deep knowledge of relational database theory and database design
  • subject matter expertise on DevOps approach to software dev/test/deploy/maintain
  • subject matter expertise on Agile approach to software development

Technical skills Required

  • Data warehouse design, development and implementation
  • Database administration
  • z/OS (e.g., TSO, ISPF, JCL, DFSMS, DFSORT, SMP/E)
  • DB2 for z/OS (e.g., SQL, DB2 CLI, DataPropagator, DB2 Utilities)
  • Job creation and scheduling (OPC, JES2)
  • Development languages: SQL, REXX, PL/I, Assembler

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Development utilities: JIRA, SCLM, UCD, CI/CD, GitHub
