Description:

We are currently recruiting for an ICA Technician (Instrument, Control and Automation) To be based out of our Camberley STW.
Working in the Camberley and surrounding areas you will be operating and maintaining approximately 250 waste pumping stations. Maintaining these assets ensures we help deliver life’s essential service to our customers, communities and the environment so keeping pumps available and running is our primary goal.
The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them, as well as being disciplined and have the desire to learn from those around you and have a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but very rewarding too.
On a day-to-day basis, you will receive your planned workload and will also be responding to emergency alarms. You will be working as part of a team but may also be alone which highlights the importance of our high H+S standards. You will have your own van and tools supplied which you will keep maintained to a high standard.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AS AN ICA TECHNICIAN

  • Carrying out planned maintenance (PPM) which includes some mandatory tickets and some reactive maintenance on defective equipment.
  • working in a multi-disciplinary team, alongside a range of operational teams such as systems, mechanical, and electrical technicians.
  • Installing, modifying, and commissioning new plant equipment to relevant standards and diagnosing and repairing faults in systems and plants. Proactively identifying and reporting follow-up work or areas for enhancement and delivering cost-effective improvements to assets and systems.
  • Investigation into plant failures and the implementation of subsequent repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  • You will be responsible for providing specialist technical advice where appropriate with up-to-date technical knowledge.
    Base Location: Camberley - GU15 3YL
    Working Pattern or hours: 38 Hours Monday-Friday 7:30 -15:36. Plus the inclusion onto a standby rota for which you will receive additional payment.
    A Van, PPE and Tools will be provided.

WHAT SHOULD YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?

  • Experience with PLCs and SCADA systems and communication network systems, instrumentation including flow, level, pressure etc.
  • Experience with variable speed drives (VSDs) and other starting methods for motors/pumps.
  • Ideally, you will be qualified to HNC level or otherwise will have City and Guilds Part 2 or NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an instrumentation, control and automation discipline.
  • Preferable for you to have 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification and 3-phase electrical knowledge or qualifications.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem and identify the best solution to resolve it the first time.

  • The ability to deliver exceptional service through an enthusiastic and positive approach, taking accountability for your role while working accurately and flexibly within a busy team.
