Description:

The ICDT Research Engineer assists in cybersecurity research and development efforts for faculty of the Institute for Cybersecurity and Digital Trust (ICDT). Coordinates and conducts various sponsored research and industry projects as part of various research teams. Collaborates with research and industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project milestones, deliverable requirements and within the cost and schedule agreed upon during project scoping. Works with OSU faculty and other ICDT staff to complete multidisciplinary fundamental and applied research. Utilizes expertise and helps to lead graduate students in determining technical solutions for complex problems. May serve as a liaison with sponsoring agencies and other research and educational institutes. Prepares technical reports for submission to sponsoring agencies. Participates in preparation of research and industry proposals. Writes journal and conference articles. Teaches one section of a CSE Capstone course (4 credit hours) each autumn and spring semester, in collaboration with the Justic Tech law students, faculty and community clients. May present research progress to sponsors and presents research results at conferences and symposia. Supports professional development and student program activities of ICDT in area of expertise. Advises student cybersecurity competition teams (e.g. MITRE eCTF or CCDC). Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 4 years’ experience in network security, cloud environments, firewall management, and/or in designing, implementing, and maintaining network security systems. Experience in an R & D setting (i.e., planning and conducting R & D projects/programs in terms of technical and managerial functions). Experience in project management.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

PhD in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience desired.
