DEPARTMENT

The Office of the Vice President for Research is looking to fill the role of Program Manager for IGNITE FSU (Inspiring the Generation of New Ideas and Translational Excellence).

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and four years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and eight years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in project management, startup incubators/accelerators, or related administration coordination.

Responsibilities:

IGNITE-FSU (Inspiring the Generation of New Ideas and Translational Excellence at Florida State University) provides programming and other training opportunities for the FSU and broader Tallahassee community, the creation of mentoring programs for budding entrepreneurs, the launch of new seed funding programs aimed at translational research and new partnerships that support an innovation ecosystem.
The IGNITE Program Manager is responsible for defining project tasks and resource requirements, monitoring and reporting on project progress, assessing results, and facilitating responsible team members to take action to meet deliverables within scope and budget. The Program Manager is responsible for contributing to, and establishing and maintaining processes and procedures for this newly created program.
They will work with the IGNITE Program Director in developing and maintaining a database(s), which includes internal and external participants and partners including clients, mentors, and angels.
This includes, effectively monitoring and reporting on progress of projects to all stakeholders, including project budget and resource allocation, timelines and project deliverables using appropriate tools. They must understand metrics and reporting constructs to provide transparency and accurate timely information to stakeholders. They will provide a variety of reports, including for evaluation of program, support of federal grant funding, economic impacts, and additional reporting and analysis for IGNITE activities and projects as needed.
A pro-active approach in handling job related activities to include teamwork, interaction with departments and vendors, keeping up with commitments, predicting when circumstances may prevent commitment(s) from being met and takes action to re-prioritize assignments or modify tasks is critical for the success of this role. This role will serve as liaison with students, staff, faculty researchers, commercialization team to assist with the flow and exchange of information, such as timely survey data collection; Resolve conflicts with faculty, staff, students, clients, mentors, entrepreneurs and community partners and stakeholders; Prepare presentations to demonstrate the reach, scope, and impact of the Ignite program; Provide administrative and operational support to the IGNITE program; including organization, drafting assistance and review of procedures and template agreement processing; Exercise judgment in screening and referring visitors, phone calls and inquiries; Attend meetings and serves as official record keeper and project manager for collaborations.; Serve as a liaison between the leadership team, clients, stakeholders, university staff and faculty, and implementation team communicating appropriately and effectively with co-workers, customers and supervisors in order to develop, coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of internal and interdepartmental projects lead by the Office of Research; and Maintain awareness of project status and any potential delay, situation or concern that may affect the outcome of the project.
