Description:

Since 2006, Goldberg and Associates has built a steadfast reputation of success in immigration law. We are growing and are looking for a passionate and driven experienced Immigration Paralegal to join our USCIS team. Experience in Cancellation of Removals and Asylum a plus!
Under the direction of the COO and Legal Program Manager the Paralegal II will assist attorney(s) by providing clerical and research support services including document preparation, evidence packages, declarations; interviewing clients and witnesses; research, investigations, and fact-checking; and trial preparation.
The ideal candidate will be well-organized and comfortable multi-tasking with proven success in preparing Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, and waivers forms.

Sherman Oaks, California 91423
SALARY RANGE: $26/hr to $35/hr

Responsibilities:

  • Meets with attorneys, clients, and other professionals to discuss assigned cases or projects.
  • Preparation of USCIS forms, evidence list and legal memos and letters for Asylum, Cancellation of Removal, I-601A, I-601, I-212, I-237h waivers.
  • Meet with clients to complete forms, draft affidavits and provide case status information.
  • Researches and analyzes statutes, regulations, legal articles, judicial decisions, and other legal sources; provide written analysis to attorneys.
  • Conduct research on immigration law and procedures;
  • Prepare draft correspondence and memoranda;
  • Enter case information and make regular updates to Goldberg’s web-based case management system
  • Track the status of filings and inform the client of any follow-up that may be necessary;Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Gsuite or related software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field required
  • Paralegal certificate is required.
  • At least 3 years experience as an Immigration Paralegal exclusively with EOIR, asylum, and USCIS cases, including waivers and cancellation of removals
  • Supervisory experience a plus
