Clinical Research Delivery Nurse - Immunohaematology
We have an exciting opportunity for a band 6 research nurse to join the Immunohaematology team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
The post holder will work in Immunohaematology, which is part of the Oncology and Haematology Directorate. Immunohaematology is a fast developing field with many new treatments entering clinical trials.
Immunohaematology conditions include thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (AIHA), cold agglutinin disease (CAD), autoimmune neutropenia (AIN) and neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia (NAIT).

The post holder will work closely with the Immunohaematology Consultants, Specialist registrars, Clinical nurse specialists, other research nurses within the immunohaematology team and will have the support of a wider team of research nurses.
The clinical trials that the post holder will support include randomised controlled trials of new treatments for immunohaematology conditions and observational trials including registries.
Clinical responsibilities include study participant recruitment (mainly in outpatients), co-ordination of care and arranging study visits for trial participants and those already on existing trials, education of patients and colleagues, carrying out study assessments, collection and preparation of biological samples including processing blood samples in the laboratory, collection of trial data and administration of experimental drugs or devices.
The post holder will be expected to develop specialist skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical studies, therapies and immunohaematological conditions. As well as provide excellent professional and clinical care in the field of immunohaematology research promoting the effective delivery of high standards of nursing care for all research participants, contributing to the development of the service and continually striving to improve quality of care and clinical outcomes.
Previous experience in working with research studies and clinical trials is preferred, however a full induction, training in research and mentoring will be provided.
This post is a 12 month fixed term contract (22.5 hours per week). Flexible working and some home or remote working will be considered.

The current vacancy is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and hardworking nurse with an interest in research and clinical trials to join our small and friendly immunohaematology team.
You should be able to transfer your previously gained relevant clinical skills and knowledge to the role of the research nurse. You will be responsible for running research trials, both observational and randomised controlled trials, with an awareness and understanding of established protocols, study guidance documents and codes of conduct in accordance with NMC guidelines, ICH GCP guidelines, research governance, EU Clinical Trials Directive and Data Protection Act.
You will support new or existing studies, identify and recruit patients from the immunohaematology outpatient clinics, ensuring patient suitability according to study entry criteria, co-ordinate and arrange screening and follow-up trial visits and provide ongoing support and education to patients who are participating in trials.
Clinical responsibilities include administration of study drug intravenously or subcutaneously during trial visits, performing venepuncture and cannulation, carrying out study assessments including height, weight, ECG, measuring vital signs, and ensure the labelling, processing in laboratory, storage and posting of biological samples meets the necessary requirements of research protocols in order to make certain that safe handling and quality is assured.
Additionally the role includes collecting trial data, reviewing electronic patient records, and submitting trial data electronically and adverse event reporting in a timely manner
