Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children’s Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The research assistant will report to the Implementation Researcher and works closely with the Director of Implementation and VP of Programs, Implementation, and Training. The implementation research assistant will provide (a) coordination and organization of our growing implementation research portfolio, (b) administrative and operational assistance for the program and projects, and (c) develop understanding of The Baker Center for Children and Families operations and the intersection with implementation science for program sustainability. Projects may include, but are not limited to, (a) substance abuse prevention curriculum implementation in Hawai ‘i, (b) learning collaborative models for youth psychotherapy implementation (specifically the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, or Conduct Problems (MATCH-ADC)), (c) MATCH-ADC clinical outcome monitoring, and (d) understanding youth public-sector service system implementation through community-academic partnerships.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s or Masters degree (or foreign equivalent) in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, or related field from an accredited academic program.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with SPSS, REDCap, SAS, R, or other statistical software preferred
  • Oral and written fluency in English.
  • A career interest in mental health services.
  • Knowledge of mental health systems and implementation science.
  • Experience with statistical analysis using SPSS for quality improvement or evaluation purposes.
  • Experience using online database systems and/or survey tools.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (WITH OR WITHOUT ACCOMMODATION)

  • Must be able to move around: different level floors, different locations, balance, reach, push, pull, lift, finger, grasp, feel, talk, hear and be capable of repetitive motion.
  • Position requires exerting in excess of 20 pounds of force occasionally, and or excess of 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Responsibilities:

  • Research (55%)
  • Conducts literature and data searches/reviews.
  • Coordinates and assists with necessary data collection and entry for projects.
  • Administers, scores, and interprets standardized assessment questionnaires and support research volunteers in these efforts.
  • Supports staff in funding applications, human subjects and compliance documentation, and IRB applications.
  • Actively participates in research project design, analysis, and reporting.
  • Submits and presents research at local and national forums.
  • Works with Implementation Research Division staff to coordinate and assist with data systems development and maintenance, data collection, coding, management, and reporting of both process and outcome data.
  • Administrative (30%)
  • Facilitates the preparation and submission of grant applications and grant reports.
  • Coordinates meetings, professional trainings, contracts, invoices, and other activities supporting the Implementation Research Division research.
  • Produces and distributes meeting minutes as needed.
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing and Communications teams to keep the department website updated and to develop public relations documents.
  • Assists in advertising and marketing efforts, such as creating, updating, and distributing brochures and other marketing materials.
  • Supports Quality Care Initiative with other administrative and operational support as needed.
  • Professional Development (15%)
  • Manages growing team of research assistants through weekly meetings and goal setting.
  • Manages the application and interview process for incoming co-operative education students and volunteers.
  • Assists with strategic planning around implementation research program.
