Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience in customs and importation processes.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in SAP and Excel.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Language: This role involves interaction with internal and external clients and partners nationally and globally. Professional competency in the English language is therefore a requirement of this role. Bilingualism in both French and English is considered an asset.
  • Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of customs regulations and compliance in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms and transportation models (e.g., DDP, FCA).
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Customs:
  • Provide required commercial documentation for customs clearance.
  • Monitor and facilitate customs releases for imports in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure efficient clearance processes.
  • Resolve issues related to net weight and HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) codes in collaboration with Product Managers.
  • Address anti-dumping concerns and correct inaccurate customs entries.
  • Conduct assessments of customs brokers to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Review tariff reports to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Create and manage purchase orders (POs) for import-related activities.
  • Coordinate with Finance for timely processing of invoices from brokers and other import-related entities.
  • Import Logistics/Transportation:
  • Track and trace incoming shipments to ensure visibility and accountability.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve lead times and costs in import logistics.
  • Collaborate with departments to determine optimal transportation methods and routes.
  • Request and evaluate carrier quotes, selecting the most suitable options.
  • Coordinate with carriers for pickups, deliveries, and estimated time of arrivals (ETAs).
  • Provide timely shipment status updates to the team.
  • Coordinate with warehousing team to ensure timely receipt of stock.
  • Update SAP system with estimated delivery dates and upload proof of delivery (POD) records.
  • Create transport purchase orders (POs) and process invoices in the SAP system
