In-House Privacy Counsel
Reporting to: Head of Legal
Location: Remote – May be required to attend our Tewkesbury Head Office from time to time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday.
Salary: £45,000-£60,000 (depending on experience)
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE
- Proven legal and/or managerial experience within the same or similar industry.
- A deep understanding of UK data protection legislation and regulatory regimes.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with exposure to large customer data sets and marketing.
- CIPPE, CIPM certifications, and IAPP membership are advantageous.
- Showcase excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage and inspire colleagues.
- Ability to condense complex matters into bitesize chunks for board/director review.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the Charge: Oversee the daily management of data protection compliance and provision of legal guidance to ensure our practices and policies align with UK data protection laws.
- Collaborative Innovation: Work with cross-functional teams on exciting projects to seamlessly integrate privacy by design.
- Empower Through Education: Create and deliver impactful training programs to enhance staff knowledge and skills in data protection.
- Expert Guidance: Offer strategic advice on new and existing processes and systems to strengthen our data protection measures.
- Continuous Improvement: Enhance, refine and audit our compliance, driving ongoing process improvements.
- Trendsetter: Stay at the forefront of industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure we remain compliant and competitive.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure clear and effective communication is provided across business units.
- Legal Support: Manage data breaches, oversee the DSAR process, assist in the formation of contracts and lead on a variety of ad-hoc matters commercial matters, contributing to the overall success of the organisation.
