Description:

The Main duties and Responsibilities of this position are subject to the ADEK vision of this particular role and may be adjusted or modified by the school’s Management to ensure that the school fully complies with the ADEK and the ADEK requirements are met at any time. It is expected of inclusion teacher to be adaptable to minor changes in their responsibilities, paperwork, reporting, and other duties as requested by the ADEK and the school.
Under the guidance of the Head of Inclusion:
Assessment and Identification:
Conduct thorough informal assessments to identify students with special educational needs.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to gather information about students’ learning needs.
Assist the Head of Inclusion in the assessment process based on referrals from teachers and heads of departments.
Designated Learning Plans (DLPs):
Give input to the development of the DLP for students who have long or short-term learning difficulties. Identify the inclusion/ SEN/ Gifted and Talented (G&T) students with short or long- term learning difficulties, needs. Monitor and support these students by implementing personalized Designated Learning Plans, ALPs (Advanced Learning Plans), etc. and allocating the educational materials needed.
Monitor and regularly review the progress of students, adjusting plans as needed.
3. Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents to foster a collaborative approach to supporting students with SEN.
Establish a central point of communication between the school and parents in terms of Inclusion students’ development/ progress, explain the individual Designated Learning Plans to the parents, and so on.
Collaborate with mainstream teachers, providing proper training on working with and assisting students in the classroom.
Collaborate with other teachers to ensure that all students are aware of special needs or learning difficulties in order to establish a welcoming environment and integration to the school for Inclusion students.
4. External Partnerships:
Liaise with external agencies, specialists, and support services to provide additional resources and assistance for students with complex needs.
Stay updated with developments in special education and incorporate best practices into school policies.
Manage external agencies’ involvement in assessments and support plans.
5. Inclusive Classroom Practices:
Promote and implement inclusive teaching strategies to create a supportive learning environment for all students.
Advise on the use of assistive technologies and accommodations to facilitate learning.
Create and implement full inclusion policies for the whole school, including admission policies, grading, and curriculum modifications.
Design, implement and communicate the balanced, relevant, differentiated as per the individual needs or small groups curriculum for the Inclusion students to attain their full potential.
6. Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of students with SEN, including assessments, interventions, and progress reports.
Produce reports for school leadership, governing bodies, and external agencies as required.
Ensure effective tracking systems are in place for students’ progress.
7. Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with trends and advancements in special education.
Provide training sessions for school staff and parents on relevant topics related to inclusive education.
8. Policy Formation and School Inspections:
Formulate and update inclusion policies, improvement plans, and ensure compliance with education authorities’ inspections (e.g., ADEK, MOE).
Develop effective systems and processes for the successful provision of support for all students of determination.
9. Additional Responsibilities:
Oversee admissions, screenings, and assessment support. Suggest and implement curriculum modifications/adaptations for RSAD’s curriculum for SEN students.
Monitor well-being policies, systems, and processes, including counseling and behavior support plans and its implementation.
Identify, monitor, and support SEN students, implementing DLPs plans , and outsourcing as needed.
10. General:
Support initiatives determined by the Principal and Head of Inclusion.
Participate fully and actively in the growth of the inclusion department as well as the development and enhancement of the school.
Ensure that students are present for every class and follow up on absences as needed; Consistently and effectively use a range of appropriate strategies for the classroom’s management.
Ensure and maintain a safe and caring environment with excellent classroom management.
Participate in the performance management system to evaluate your own or colleagues (peer observations) performance/s.
Participate in during the school and after-school activities and excursions.
Liaise with Extracurricular Activities Coordinator and seek the Inclusion students’ participation in extra curriculum activities, events, field trips, etc. Seek for an advice from the Extracurricular Activities Coordinator/Providers, the relevant school’s support personnel (nurse inclusive), communicate and explain the benefits of such activities to the parents, ensure the inclusion student’s wellbeing and safety, and; ask for and obtain parental agreements.
Actively participate in organization of Inclusion Students learning outside the classroom in activities such as community visits, school outings or sporting events.
Adhere to the teacher’s code of conduct and always share the best practices within the team.
Adhere to the Professional Development requirements by the ADEK for this role and provide the additional certificates as per ADEK/ School’s requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • University degree in the Special Education or a related subject (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized and accredited educational institution) with additional QFE 5 Diploma in Special Education + 2 years teaching experience in the UAE.
  • The Experience certificate/s duly notarized and attested.
  • The candidate preferably has a previous work experience/ practice with Inclusion students in the UAE.

The Inclusion Teacher is expected to:

  • Have experience working with students for whom English is an additional language.
  • Have strong knowledge of current practice and developments for Inclusion students.
