THE JOB ITSELF

Are you a qualified Social Worker with extensive post qualifying social work experience? We are recruiting a part time permanent Independent Reviewing Officer to join our Independent Reviewing Service based in County Hall, Beverley.
We work with our children who are ‘looked after’ including those children receiving short break provision and our privately fostered children in the community overseeing their care plans.
The service works closely with partner agencies, foster carers, parents and the child’s network and social workers to review and monitor care planning for our children and young people.

The 0.5 post fills a vacancy and will join 5 fulltime IRO’s, the role reports directly to the Area Manager (IRO & IFCRO) and will include key responsibilities;

  • Chairing Review Meetings: IROs chair regular review meetings to assess and monitor the care plans for looked-after children.
  • Quality Assurance: They ensure that the care plans are effective and meet the child’s needs, taking into account the child’s wishes and feelings.
  • Monitoring Care: IROs monitor the implementation of the care plan, ensuring that decisions made during reviews are acted upon.
  • Advocacy: They advocate for the child’s rights and well-being, ensuring that the child is informed about their rights and can voice their concerns.
  • Independence: IROs work independently from the child’s social worker to provide an unbiased perspective on the child’s care.

Their role is vital in ensuring that the care provided to looked-after children is of high quality and that their voices are heard in the decision-making process.
