Description:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree preferred in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the position.
- Minimum 5 years experience working in health care setting.
- Leadership experience with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple departments, agencies, budgets and stakeholders.
- Knowledge and/or experience of Indigenous health services and service delivery models (i.e. regional, provincial and national policy/funding issues).
- Knowledge and/or experience applying the First Nations Principles of OCAP® and Indigenous data governance (including intellectual property) processes, policies, and procedures.
- Experience developing, implementing and sustaining network/partnerships.
- Experience with strategic planning, project/program management, human resources, financial management, including demonstrated business skills, experience in program/system evaluation, and supporting quality improvement and implementation initiatives would be preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-Cree is preferred
- Knowledge of the current and changing dynamics of the health care system, related support services, and health equity for Indigenous populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Strong decision-making, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and community needs, special knowledge of First Nation and urban Indigenous community needs.
- An in-depth understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions, worldview, history, ceremonies, and language.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain co-operative and collaborative relations with private and public officials, co-workers, and other stakeholders.
- Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problem-solving, data analysis and evidence-based decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently, utilizing discretion and sound judgment.
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and recognize others; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
- Proven acumen in business and financial management.
- Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external partners.
- Committed to ongoing professional and personal (including cultural) development.
- Proficiency with office computer equipment and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data base applications.
- Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
