Salary: Class 04 - $72,810-$87,373

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- College Diploma with work experience in the Health and/or Social Work field
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience working in a health care environment
- Project planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting skills (preferred)
- Extensive knowledge and understanding FNIMUI history, culture, health and socio-economic issues/needs in Ontario
- Demonstrated knowledge of FNIMUI governance structures and protocols, organizations and communities
- Demonstrated experience in implementing best practices in relationship development with FNIMUI community partners
- Experience leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of system-level projects
- Demonstrated ability to integrate culture into project deliverables and adapt Western perspectives of health and education to align with Indigenous understandings of health and wellness
- Knowledge of the concepts of culturally safe and trauma-informed approaches to care and how this is supported in a health care environment
- Knowledge of the health care environment, the cancer system and the cancer journey as it relates to FNIMUI people
- Capacity to write funding proposals, create work plans and establish community-based advisory groups
- Expertise to create and facilitate effective presentations and education initiatives to the public and health care providers
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite tools, clinical software, and Adobe Acrobat, etc. and demonstrated experience in writing and developing business documents (e.g. briefing notes, project reports, presentations)
- Must be able to provide own transportation as regional travel is required
- Proven ability to attend work regularly
- Satisfactory criminal reference check and vulnerable sector search required

Responsibilities:
- Build, grow, and strengthen relationships with First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous partners in the South East region.
- In collaboration with FNIMUI communities and organizations, coordinate and participate in community outreach and health promotion activities and events aimed at improving health literacy, knowledge and awareness of cancer screening and prevention, and overall well-being.
- Coordinate and lead the development, implementation and evaluation of all initiatives relevant to improving the cancer journey for Indigenous cancer patients and their families.
- Support the development of culturally appropriate resources for patients, families and service providers.
- Support education to healthcare providers about cultural safety and trauma-informed care.
- Coordinate and lead meetings and affiliated working groups to advance the implementation of the South East Regional Indigenous Cancer Plan.
- Track and report on program activities via indicators that are monitored, assessed and evaluated annually by Ontario Health and The South East Regional Cancer Program.
