Reporting to the Assistant Registrar, Recruitment, this position advises prospective Indigenous students on their program selection and admission to all undergraduate and graduate programs. This position plays a key role in CUE’s achievement of enrolment targets and is accountable for conveying the benefits of a CUE education to the public.
This position’s primary responsibility is to support the university recruitment plan by traveling to and liaising with Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Yukon, and Saskatchewan high school staff and students, mature students, and other representatives within school systems, and the Indigenous community. This position serves as an ambassador by providing information about CUE programs, services, and careers for the purpose of generating inquiries and applications via on and off, and virtual campus events, presentations, meetings, and information sessions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • An undergraduate degree with a minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in the customer service industry.
  • Valid class 5 Drivers’ License and clean driving abstract with the ability to work flexible hours and travel as required.
  • Broad understanding of secondary institutions in Alberta and all other provinces.
  • Familiarity/experience with Indigenous communities, history, and culture.
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of CUE programs and admission requirements, supports, and services.
  • Familiarity with Alberta post-secondary systems.
  • Effective interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to travel independently for extended periods of time.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Records Check results.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain working relationship with high school counselors, career advisors, prospective students, parents, and other external audiences.
  • Visits middle schools, high schools, and post-secondary institutions, speaks to groups and individual students, and meets with school counsellors to promote outreach activities.
  • Disseminate CUE information to target markets, internal and external contacts from all services and programs within the university.
  • Create and manage specific initiatives to support the recruitment of Indigenous students by establishing contacts and building relationships with Indigenous communities, making arrangements for high school and community visits, and tracking the interest of prospective students.
  • Collaborate with kihêwak kâpimihâcik to ensure awareness of services for Indigenous students and ongoing support throughout and beyond the recruitment process.
  • Organize and deliver recruitment presentations and information booths to high school students to generate inquiries leads and student applications.
  • Capture data and evaluate events to determine involvement for the following year’s event.
  • Follow up on leads to maintain enrolment goals set by institution administration.
  • Attend post-secondary fairs, career fairs, and other events outside of regular hours and travel to various schools throughout Western Canada.
  • Respond to inquiries made in person, by phone, email or mail in an appropriate and timely manner.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement on-campus and virtual activities such as special events (Open House, Info Night), presentations and tours.
  • Extensive travel planning requiring logistics in advance.
  • Travel may be within the scheduled workday or consist of overnight stays in another town/city for several nights at a time. Out of town/off-campus events require booking hotels, arranging transportation, and developing a travel schedule.
  • Liaise with recruitment teams from other post-secondary institutions to facilitate and coordinate travel itineraries.
  • Assist in the creation of customized promotional material packages for events and recruitment activities. Recommend, create and and/or aid in the production of internal and external resource materials.
