Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Review and Submission of the Indirect Tax returns prepared by the team for the entities supported by GIS. (Hungary necessary and other EMEA countries, as required)
  • The role may involve some preparatory work depending on the country/requirements of the team.
  • Review and sign off balance sheet account reconciliations. Ensure proper escalation protocol is adhered to for any aging items.
  • Ensure all Indirect Tax payments are made on time and refunds requested in a timely manner.
  • Monitor changes in Indirect Tax rules - understand the impact on the compliance process, make any necessary changes and ensure any changes to process/ERP are implemented.
  • Identify and take ownership in projects on Indirect tax related matters or any legal or process or business changes. Identify the stakeholders, set the project goals, actions and target. Follow up on progress and apply effective control points.
  • Responsible for continuous process improvement – ensure Indirect Tax Compliance process is robust, efficient, and documented and has best in class controls.
  • Identify areas to automate wherever possible to streamline the process or improve the process by suggesting new controls.
  • Lead internal and external audit reviews, SOX compliance checks in cooperation with auditors and authorities.
  • Attend and lead any audits as required by Viatris businesses (e.g., tax Inspections) and work to ensure all documentation is prepared and reviewed in line with audit deadlines
  • Work with outsourced provider where relevant and work with other Indirect Tax Team members or other Viatris departments, to resolve any quality issues.
  • Support Indirect Tax Management on any Indirect Tax Projects that may be ongoing (i.e., Indirect Tax Recovery/Cash Flow projects)/ ERP related projects (e.g., acquisitions, SAP/ERP implementation etc).
  • Ensure Indirect Tax SLA and quality metrics are met and provide an update on these each month in the format prescribed by Quality team and/or Indirect Tax Management

The minimum qualifications for this role are:

  • Qualified Accountant or Member of Tax Institute or bachelor’s degree in accounting/Finance
  • 4+ years of indirect tax experience, highly preferably in a mix of public accounting and multinational corporate environment
  • Strong knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Experiences in team lead and people management is a plus
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Hungarian, second foreign language knowledge is an advantage
