Description:

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • The position would suit a current senior manager with strong technical, business development and personal skills or an experienced manager seeking progression.
  • The individual should have a strong interest in the technical side of VAT and should expect a high level of technical work commensurate with the role.
  • Substantial experience in VAT advisory work, ideally including a good knowledge of real estate VAT issues.
  • The individual must have strong client handling skills and the ability to develop good relationships with clients and other professionals.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills.
  • CTA or legally qualified.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

  • To play a key role in developing the VAT advisory practice at Forvis Mazars, notably in Real Estate; working closely with the London VAT Partner and other members of the VAT team
  • Delivering high quality technical advice, working with a diverse range of clients.
  • To be responsible for the scoping, delivery and billing of client work. You will also be required to be compliant with the firm’s risk management processes for clients.
  • Ensure that more junior staff are guided in researching and producing work that meets the firm’s commitment to quality, whilst also supporting the relevant VAT Partner.
  • Provide technical relevant advice on a range of Indirect Tax matters, supporting your decisions with appropriate knowledge of legislation, case law, and technical analysis. Whilst the role is mostly advisory, it will also encompass the provision of specialist technical support for audits.
  • Produce technical work which requires minimal review and conveys key points to clients and stakeholders in plain English.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of clients as the main point of contact for indirect tax, develop your portfolio to grow your base of profitable work.
  • Develop a portfolio of businesses to target, using your business development skills to start new relationships and generate new work for indirect tax and other teams.
  • Work with colleagues across the firm to contribute to proposals for new work and provide technical input to tax-wide projects.
  • Contribute to the indirect tax leadership team with ideas on management, projects, strategy and focus.
