Description:
Athabasca University’s Learning Services Tutorial Departmentis currently seeking an Individualized Study tutor for the following course:
Women and Gender Studies (WGST 333) - Goddess Mythology, Women’s Spirituality, and Ecofeminism
This is a temporary position with an end date of August 31, 2025.
Qualifications and Experience Required: A minimum of a Master’s degree required (PhD preferred) in Women’s and Gender Studies, or other cognate discipline/interdisciplinary area of study in the Humanities or Social Sciences. Undergraduate teaching experience in Women’s and Gender studies is required, with preference given to those who have taught courses that draw on feminist approaches to mythology, spirituality and ecology.
The successful candidate will have subject matter expertise and be responsible for providing academic assistance to students, for marking assignments, and for assigning and recording final grades. Teaching experience at a post-secondary level is required. Experience in distance learning and familiarity with digital teaching technologies and online course delivery is preferred. Experience with adult education and Moodle online course delivery is considered an asset.
Along with the relevant academic credentials as mentioned above, this position requires excellent communication, organizational, administration and online/computer skills. The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability to maintain a high academic standard, maintain accurate student records, and return students’ work promptly and within the University’s required service standards. Candidates must own or have access to a computer and internet with the capability to communicate with the University and students and the capability to run any applications required to perform tutorial support.
