Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for new product design and sustaining current products within consumer and lab solutions lines. The ideal candidate is an Electrical Engineer or Electronics Technician who has demonstrated success as part of a cross-functional product development team maturing products from design and prototype to test design, concept, and launch.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ARE DEFINED BELOW:
- Develop products throughout their lifecycle; from inception to design completion, development testing, lab testing, life testing, certification, release to production, technical support during the life of the product up to the product retirement stage.
- Assist with the development of quality standards and purchasing specifications. including test methods for products, services, and processes.
- Prepare design documentation for new products and components such as PCBA engineering specifications, drawings, and test reports.
- Design products and components utilizing prescribed tools such as CAD, DFMA and DFMEA’s in accordance with regulatory standards including CSA, UL, TUV, ETL.
- Circuit design including schematic, layout, and component selection.
- Analyze design of existing parts to improve manufacturability, reliability or reduce cost.
- Support real-time firmware development team with microcontroller selection.
- Hold design reviews and conduct validation tests (environmental, EMC, etc.).
- Maintain Bill of Materials for electronic assemblies.
- Participate in “make versus buy” decisions for components and/or assemblies.
- Develop project plans, coordinate activities, and report on project status.
- Work in multi-functional new product development teams, including program/product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management, and production.
- Build and test prototypes to ensure all essential design requirements are met.
- Participate in failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) of designs and processes as part of risk management.
- Support the production and service teams by assisting with the resolution of technical issues encountered as well as by establishing effective testing and test benches.
- Interface with partners, suppliers, and subcontractors to address technical issues and requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
