Job Description For External Posting
This position reports to the Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor and is located at the Portage la Prairie, Manitoba (MB),
Key Accountabilities
- Carry out all work in a safe and professional manner complying with Roquette procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Ensure proper performance and operation of production equipment and machinery.
- Minimize production downtime by completing preventive maintenance inspections, planned work orders and responding to breakdowns/emergency repairs in an efficient manner.
- Must be able to weld, solder, and use cutting torches.
- Ensure high standards of workmanship quality are delivered to prevent manufacturing equipment breakdowns.
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine equipment repair requirements.
- Able to estimate jobs material and labor requirements.
- Project repair estimations and provide feedback to the planners.
- Order necessary parts and materials and work with suppliers as needed.
- Apply mechanical principles and analytical techniques to continuously improve manufacturing processes with the focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Effectively troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures in a timely manner.
- Identify through-put constraints and drive root cause improvement initiatives.
- Complete maintenance shift report at the completion of each shift using computerized software.
- Ability to balance the schedule between planned maintenance jobs and new jobs (priority scheduling, PM compliance).
- Review written documents such as work orders and equipment-specific manufacturer’s publications to perform repairs.
- Plan and prioritize workflow according to business needs and management instructions.
- Perform mechanical tasks as assigned by the Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor.
Functional Competencies
- Good understanding of other Trades/craft skills
- Good communication skills and open to feedback
- Expected to work in a responsible and safe manner, follow proper lockout, and safety procedures, etc.
- Good aptitude for administration and documentation controls
- Works well with others (within the team and cross-functional with other departments)
Technical Applicative competencies
- Proficient with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
- Working knowledge and experience with precision bearings, setup gauging tools, tool mounting systems, and lubricant systems.
- Experienced with measuring instruments to verify dimensional characteristics.
- Experienced in the assembly and testing of threaded pipe, tubing and fitting procedures.
- Basic knowledge of troubleshooting / root cause analysis (continuous improvement mentality)
- Good working knowledge of regulatory requirements.
- Good CMMS process and use knowledge (work orders portfolio management)
Education
- Must hold a certified Journeyperson industrial Millwright License or Equivalent issued by the Province of Manitoba or bear the Red Seal Certificate from another province.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry.
- Strong SAP knowledge and experience.
