    Established in 1995, our client Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau Hauora provides a range of appropriate, accessible and sustainable health, education and social services that improves the well-being of Iwi and the wider community for all who reside within Kawerau and the Eastern Bay of Plenty region. They are looking for a trustworthy, confidential, creative Community Mental Health Coordinator to join their team. Covering both Kawerau and Murupara districts, this is a part-time role of approximately 20-25 hours per week.

NGA PŪKENGA ME WHAI | IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Tertiary Qualification in Mental Health, Social Work or similar health related field
  • Recent experience working in mental health and a strong understanding of mental health illness
  • Full Clean, Class 1 NZ Drivers Licence
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creativity, able to be innovative while assisting tangata whaiora towards recovery
  • Commitment to Kaupapa Māori care as a way forward for Māori health
  • Proven experience working in a kaupapa Māori environment
  • Competency in Te Reo Māori and a good understanding of tikanga Māori is desirable
  • Strong relationship and network management
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, approachable and patient
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent computer literacy skills, with proficiency in all Microsoft Office functions
  • Knowledge of Tūwharetoa ki Kawerau tikanga and kawa

Only applicants who are legally entitled to work in New Zealand (Open work visa, NZ Citizenship or NZ Residency), currently reside in New Zealand and have New Zealand clinical experience will be considered for this advertised position. Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The key function of this role is to support families, whānau and carers in maximising individual development potential and mental health of infants, children, adolescents and youth between the ages of 0-18 years and up to the age of their 20th birthday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

  • Provide home support, education, information and care to clients and their whānau
  • Manage an active caseload of clients
  • Organise early intervention strategies to ensure full wraparound service/support is provided for clients
  • Prepare client plans, tailoring to individual needs and adopting a strength based approach
  • Incorporate play therapy into individual sessions to best meet client needs
  • Provide care in a culturally safe manner, placing tikanga at the forefront
  • Establish and maintain positive and functional relationships with key service providers and external stakeholders
  • Complete reporting requirements, ensuring strict client confidentiality
  • Strict compliance with all legislative, company, service and professional requirements
  • File management, capture date and update progress details
