Description:
REQUIRED ABILITIES
- Understanding of the appropriate use of developmental assessments and screenings; background and skill in conducting assessments and preparing reports
- Excellent teaching skills and ability to coach and mentor.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of child development.
- Maintains open and positive communication with parents. Assists families in planning and providing experiences in the home and community which will encourage the growth and development for the infant. Completes and discusses assessments, concerns and progress during home visits. Encourages parents to take part in any decision making and assists parents in advocating for programs and services
- Maintains records and required reporting ensuring they are accurate, complete, timely and in keeping with inclusion powell river standards. Adheres to inclusion powell river technology policy and policy related to records of persons served. Ensures parents\caregivers approve reports and in keeping with privacy policies.
- Develops with parents group experiences, facilitates a weekly parent-tot group, and provides information and education. Arranges and / or provides safe transportation for participants as needed.
- Responds immediately to emergencies including incidents of child abuse, in accordance with Ministry guidelines, inclusion powell river Policies and the Operations Manual using common sense and good judgement at all times.
- Collaborates with the Child and Family Services team to develop and implement an integrated model of service and promote a family centred approach to case management.
- Ability to participate as a member of an integrated, multi-disciplinary team of early development professionals and maintain a positive relationship with the Leadership team.
- Maintain a current awareness of best practices in the field of early childhood intervention and participates actively in training opportunities.
BACHELOR DEGREE IN NURSING, EDUCATION, PSYCHOLOGY, CHILD AND YOUTH CARE, OR RELATED HUMAN SERVICE FIELD.
- Minimum of 2 years’ recent related experience working with young children and families
