Description:
Under direct supervision of the Associate Deputy Commissioner (ADC) for the Infectious Disease Prevention Division (IDPD), the Staff Services Officer (SSO) oversees highly advanced staff services work including consultative services and technical assistance related to planning, directing, and overseeing functions related to IDPD operations, administrative services, human resources (HR), training, and administrative and HR policies and procedures. Sets deadlines and monitors status to ensure timely and accurate completion of assignments. Provides recommendations on personnel actions for administrative staff to the ADC. Coordinates with Enterprise and agency programs in the development of administrative and HR policies, guidelines, and procedures. Advises IDPD management and staff on administrative and human resources policies and procedures. Serves as the subject matter expert for administrative and HR policy exception requests including, but not limited to, reviewing, editing, analyzing, and tracking position classification issues, staffing requests, and new employee salary requests for all areas of the Division. Identifies training needs and implements processes to ensure IDPD staff meet agency training requirements. Serves as division liaison with support areas such as HR, and other areas with an administrative impact on Division staff or programs. Oversees, coordinates, and participates in a wide variety of routine and special projects and assignments affecting areas across the Division. Identifies areas needing change or improvement, make recommendations, and implements changes. Prepares reports, documents, and correspondences. Works under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

- Knowledge of DSHS administrative and human resources processes.
- Knowledge of administrative and human resources policy planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
