Description:

The Information Department has a fantastic opportunity for an experience professional to join its Information Management Team. We are looking for someone with exceptional leadership skills and the ability to forge relationships at all levels of the organisation to lead our analysis function.
As our business intelligence approach continues to evolve, you will lead a team of analysts that leverage the benefits of the increased range of datasets made available via our data warehouse, with a focus on triangulation of previously disparate data sources.
You will work with all operational services across the organisation as well and Performance Management and other corporate functions to foster an information culture supporting data driven decision making.

The Information Analysis Manager will be the lead manager for the Information Analysis Service and will be a key member of the senior management team of the Data, Intelligence & Insight Services.
The post holder will be required to lead and develop a comprehensive analytical service across the organisation that meets the diverse needs of the clinical and management information agenda, for both CPG’s and corporate departments. S/he will be operationally responsible for a team of information analysts/specialists working across a broad range of organisational objectives.
The post holder will develop the service to ensure that information produced by the department is robustly analysed using recognised statistical techniques, and provide specialist guidance to the organisation on the impact of key service changes.
The post holder will represent the Head of service on various national groups.

Information Analysis

  • To provide specialist analysis of highly complex data, integrating data from numerous sources, often from different provider organisations, translating this into meaningful outputs for managers.
  • The post holder will be an expert in the field of information analysis, making judgements where there are a range of options and not all the information is necessarily to hand.
  • The post holder will lead a team of specialists in the field of information analysis, supporting the full range of organisational requirements, from day to day analysis of issues within CPG’s to Health-Board wide projects.
  • Ensure that a full range of analytical techniques are used both within the department and across the organisation.
  • Promote the understanding of highly complex analytical techniques within the organisation ensuring that managers and clinicians are conversant with their meaning. Eg. Statistical Process Control, Confidence Intervals, Hypothesis testing.
  • Develop a culture that places analysis at the core of the decision making process.
  • Develop and implement models that can forecast and predict future capacity requirements.
  • Formulate analytical tools that ensures highly complex models and analysis are easily understandable to service managers, translating difficult concepts into manageable solutions.

Planning

  • To be responsible for medium and long term planning for the analysis service, ensuring that it remains abreast of the latest thinking within the field, and continues to support the changing requirements of the organisation.
  • To continually revise and refine plans which forecast many years into the future as more intelligence becomes available and ensure that the department has systems and processes in place to respond to rapid changes.
  • To be the department’s lead on capacity planning, working closely with colleagues in other corporate departments such as Planning and Improvement, to model the organisation’s long term capacity requirements.
  • To work closely with CPG’s to ensure their long-term development plans are fully understood and can be incorporated into capacity and demand analysis.
  • To work closely with colleagues in Public Health to fully understand the future impact of an ageing and changing demographic profile to ensure that future demand on the organisation is effectively modelled.
  • Work closely with colleagues within Planning to analyse the changing configuration of services in order to meet future challenges.
  • To liaise with the NHS Wales Informatics Service (NWIS) to ensure the Health Board’s Information issues are effectively addressed within long-term planning on a national level.
