DEPARTMENT INFORMATION

The Department of Finance has the mandate to provide leadership and direction to the public service in all areas of finance and human resource management. This mandate includes negotiating major financial arrangements with the federal government, providing analysis and advice to the Financial Management Board, and ensuring that financial and information resources are managed effectively, efficiently and economically. This mandate also includes the recruitment and retention of a competent public service that is representative of the people it serves and the development of programs and services that effectively serve the human resource needs of the public service.

JOB INFORMATION

The Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Information & Technology (I&T) Strategy, Planning and Policy Analyst to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Manager of Strategy, Planning and Architecture, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and updating our I&T Strategy Framework, Integrated Planning Framework, and I&T Policy and Standards Framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Update and renew the GNWT’s I&T strategic artifacts and policies, including the 3-year I&T Strategic Plan.
  • Collaborate with I&T Sector directors and managers to ensure alignment on strategic actions and initiatives.
  • Oversee the finalization of strategic documents and facilitate their dissemination across the I&T Sector.
  • Coordinate and manage strategic program initiatives, ensuring effective delivery and reporting on their status.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams in strategic planning initiatives to bridge high-level objectives with departmental goals.
  • Maintain and refresh the I&T Policies and Standards strategic program within a rolling 5-year cycle.
  • Conduct assessments to identify policy gaps and develop a prioritized roadmap for policy instruments.
  • Manage a GNWT-wide I&T policy instruments repository to enhance transparency and stakeholder access.
  • Participate in Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) groups regarding I&T policy and telecommunications.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders, including technical consultants and service providers, to advocate for GNWT interests in telecommunications regulatory matters.

TYPICALLY, THE ABOVE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE ATTAINED BY:

A relevant degree with 3 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities:
