Knowledge, skills and abilities we are looking for:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of establishing a robust approach to data governance
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing information assets in a policy driven environment
  • The ability to develop and communicate a data governance strategy
  • Experience in Electronic Document Record Management principles and the ability to deliver those
  • Ability to think creatively, network and develop strong working relationships.
  • Experienced at understanding, analysing and visualising data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to suit a range of audiences including senior managers, and ability to address matters sensitively.
  • Experience of developing and running engaging training sessions on the topic of data governance
  • Ability to manage own workload, working accurately and efficiently to fixed deadlines with minimal supervision, and to prioritise a range of competing demands while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A willingness to acquire and maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation and policies in relation to data governance
  • The ability to self-start and to identify the optimal pathway to deliver change, in an otherwise busy environment with competing priorities

Most importantly we are looking for someone with the right personal qualities – enthusiasm, energy, proactivity, prepared to work under their own initiative and to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an Information Governance Strategy for CCMD
  • Establish and maintain an Information Asset Register
  • Establish and own the Data Privacy Impact Assessment process
  • Establish and own the Data Sharing process
  • Ensure that data is managed and retained according to the applicable policies
  • Review all storage repositories and form a recommendation for change to ensure information is stored and retained responsibly
  • Integrate principles of Electronic Documents Records Management (EDRM) into Commercial systems, establishing structure and governance for commercial information assets
  • Provide high quality Data Governance advice in a busy and challenging environment, working in close partnership with staff at all levels of CCMD
  • Horizon scanning to anticipate upcoming strategic or legislative change and ensure that CCMD can continue to meet its data governance obligations
  • Collate and analyse compliance statistics; highlighting issues, concerns and risks with recommendations for improvement
  • Support the design and delivery of new initiatives designed to promote responsible data governance
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and teams, which includes membership of various Data Protection related Committees
  • Become familiar with internal and external resources relating to data governance
  • Analyse and understand performance relating to relevant KPIs and milestones
  • Act as the first point of contact for data governance enquiries
  • Undertake other tasks relating to data governance, and the broader Systems, Planning & MI Team
  • Establish data stewardship across CCMD, driving continual improvement of data quality through data owners
  • Working closely with Process Owners and Business Analysts to ensure there is a common understanding of data definitions and quality requirements
  • Will potentially include line manager responsibilities
The duties/responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive. The job holder is expected to accept reasonable alterations and additional tasks of a similar level that may be necessary.
