We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated information management professional to form part of a new team, reporting to the new position of Information Protection Manager, within our Information Services section.
The Information Protection Business Partner will be responsible for developing and implementing initiatives to improve the City’s capability in the protection and management of high risk / high value information, leading to embedded and sustained strategies for privacy, confidentiality, records management, and information security.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Driving transformational and sustainable change initiatives for the protection of high risk / high value information.
  • Engaging with system owners and senior managers to develop and implement retention and disposal plans for City business systems.
  • Engaging with business areas to establish robust information protection practices
  • Providing advice and support to business areas and system owners / managers to improve information protection processes and reduce the risk of data breaches based on industry leading best-practice.
  • Providing ongoing education and training of the City’s workforce in information protection principles and practice.
  • Building and fostering communities of expertise in by-design information protection strategies for business systems.

To be successful you must have:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications, at degree level, and/or demonstrated significant equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Proven experience in implementing information protection related strategic planning and delivery of roadmap initiatives.
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of data governance, information management, information protection (including privacy and records management), information security and change management.
  • Proven education and training skills, including ability to develop and deliver training and awareness raising sessions and facilitate workshops and forums for stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in using data analytics and business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including consultation, advisory, negotiation, and interpersonal skills as well as proven ability to write appropriate, accurate and quality documentation, memoranda, and reports.
