Description:

The Information Security Analyst supports the overall security strategy, policies, and procedures at Sheridan and collaborates with clients on solutions to mitigate risks and enhance system security. The incumbent performs security audits, investigations, risk analysis, and application-level vulnerability testing and reviews; as well as the daily security maintenance and activities for Sheridan’s enterprise systems. The Information Security Analyst is a contributor in developing security awareness materials, security presentations, and information security training sessions. The incumbent deals with information of a highly sensitive and confidential nature on an ongoing basis, including incidents and security breaches.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Performing daily security maintenance and activities for enterprise systems (Sitecore, PeopleSoft, C-Cure);
  • Performing security knowledge transfer to assist in making security part of normal IT and College activities;
  • Monitoring/responding to abuse complaints (copyright violations, online harassment/threats, hacking, spam);
  • Serving as an advisor in development, implementation and maintenance of an information security infrastructure;
  • Monitoring, evaluating and performing risk assessment;
  • Monitoring and reports on information security activities and compliance;
  • Executing protocols to evaluate, test, assess and improve the integrity and effectiveness of security infrastructure (e.g. firewalls, Intrusion Detection System, other security devices);
  • Monitoring programs and processes to ensure implementation and effectiveness of information security policies and standards;
  • Evaluating and monitoring new threats and vulnerabilities to systems; ensures security processes are applied;
  • Monitoring information security trends (internal and external) and keeps others in IT and other Sheridan groups, informed about information security-related issues/activities;
  • Understands potential threats, vulnerabilities, and control techniques and communicates this information to departmental system administrators and management;
  • Participating in technology research and solution testing security capabilities.
  • Advising on the development, implementation, and maintenance of Sheridan’s information security policy, standards, and guidelines;
  • Assisting Sheridan units to investigate security breaches and pursue associated disciplinary and legal matters;
  • Performing administrative duties incidental to IT security such as completing incident reports;
  • Informing Sheridan faculties/departments about information security best practices, procedures and policies;
  • Performing other security related duties as assigned.
