POSITION SUMMARY

Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to take on a pivotal role in safeguarding some of the nation’s most critical information systems. In this dynamic position, you’ll collaborate closely with the ISSM and ISO to maintain the security posture of high-impact systems, ensuring their protection across physical, environmental, and personnel domains. You’ll be at the forefront of incident handling, security training, and monitoring, while also playing a key role in developing and updating vital authorization documentation. Your expertise will directly support Special Access Programs (SAPs) within top Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including the Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). This is your chance to make a significant impact on national security while working in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess an active Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Must possess eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Must be willing to submit to a Counterintelligence polygraph.
  • Must possess some Special Access Program (SAP) experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant field.
  • Or an additional 4 years of relevant experience.
  • 2-5 years related experience in information security, or other relevant field.
  • Must possess familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Prior performance in roles such as System, Network Administrator or ISSO.
  • Must currently possess, or must be eligible to obtain within six months of hire, one of the following certifications:
  • CAP, CASP+ CE, CISM, CISSP (or Associate), GSLC, CCISO, HCISPP, CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP
  • Must have expert knowledge of DoD, National and applicable service and agency security policy, manuals and standards. Must be able to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with many DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners.Ability to manage stress with professionalism, demonstrate leadership and critical thinking, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the ISSM by managing authorization packages and coordinating system changes with AO/DAO.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures for hardware/media sanitization and destruction; inform ISSM of any changes impacting system authorization.
  • Perform security compliance reviews, monitor recovery processes, and maintain IS security documentation.
  • Handle audit records, prepare security reports, and fulfill ISSO duties for internal and external clients.
  • Conduct cybersecurity self-inspections, address vulnerabilities, implement countermeasures, and monitor authorization boundaries.
  • Complete technical and security training; assist with A&A efforts for DoD and other agencies.
  • Traverse buildings as required; perform sedentary work 50% of the time and regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
