KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Broad knowledge and experience of enterprise level IT systems.
  • Experience of app virtualization & VDI solutions.
  • Expertise in Windows operating systems and enterprise management.
  • Expertise of managing/administration SCCM, JAMF in an enterprise environment.
  • Experience of managing Office 365 technologies and deploying into platform.
  • Experience of Intune deployment and management
  • Experience of deployment and management of endpoint security platforms.
  • Experience of Active Directory, Azure AD and Group Policy management.
  • Technical desktop support background, up to and including 3rd line.
  • A clear understanding and drive to meet security and compliance standards and a ‘secure by default’ ethos.
  • Good communication, both written and oral – including business case development and presentation skills
  • Ability to work and interact with other teams to deliver on agreed deadlines.
  • Customer service focused approach with experience of delivering on a range of tasks, projects, and outcomes

Responsibilities:

DETAILS ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Infrastructure Engineer, your primary focus is to provide technical expertise and day to day management – with a focus on people, process, and task management. You will play a key role in shaping and driving projects, critical pieces of repeatable work and innovative change within your specialist area. You must possess significant experience of working in specialist technical teams, a strong background in managing enterprise Windows and / Mac platforms and excellent interpersonal skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide high level technical expertise in the development, support, and maintenance of multi-platform EUC environments.
  • Provide technical expertise to projects which develop new IT services, including new services which meet academic requirements for teaching and research.
  • Act as contributor and adviser in projects and lead discussions and share expertise with colleagues and others.
  • Take a role in the research, evaluation, development, and deployment of new and emerging technologies relevant to EUC systems and services.
  • Formulating processes to ensure that the broad EUC platform is reliable, resilient and is capable of rapid recovery in the event of planned or unplanned circumstances disrupting normal operations.
  • Proactively set and maintain best practice and development standards and provide advice to colleagues.
  • Assist team lead with capacity planning to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Engagement with potential and existing suppliers of EUC and platform infrastructure, providing technical evaluation and input to procurement processes, ensuring the best value for the University.
  • Understand and implement IT security into all aspects of EUC planning and delivery.
