Description:

Hywel Dda University Health Board’s Digital Services department has embarked on an exciting investment to refresh its onsite Data Centre Infrastructure and is progressing with building services in the Cloud. We require a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Data Centre) to work with us to provide the daily support of our Data Centre infrastructure and to support the implementations of new systems and technologies. The role will also be the key lead for these technologies providing expert advice and knowledge.
The successful candidate will be required to work as part of and when required lead a team of technicians and engineers who provide daily operational support to the Health Board and work on a range of projects.
As a lead specialist in Data Centre infrastructure, working as a key part of the Data Centre Operations team, the post holder will be responsible for providing the Health Board with specialist advice relating to a wide range of Digital technologies on-premise and in the Cloud.
They will be required to investigate a range of highly complex infrastructure issues such as: -
Systems & Services (File & Print, E-mail, SQL Databases, Active Directory, Application Servers, Monitoring services, Backup, Recovery and supporting Data Centre infrastructure services).
Storage Services (SAN’s, NAS and DAS).
Virtualisation Services (VMWARE / Hyper-V / AVH / XenServer).
Security Services for the Data Centre environments ensuring systems and their environments are maintained to required Health Board Cyber requirements such as Cyber Essentials Plus.
Data Centre refers to On-Premise Data Centres (traditional) and various Cloud offerings such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Containers as a Service (Caas).
The successful candidate will be required to participate in the Health Board’s on-call rota providing 24x7x365 support.
Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. 48 general practices (six of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;
Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
