Description:
The Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for evaluating, recommending, and implementing Information Technology (IT) solutions that align with industry best practices. This role plays a key part in optimizing the organization’s IT systems and processes, supporting governance, risk management, and compliance initiatives, and ensuring continuous improvement in technology infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
IT Solution Analysis & Implementation: Assess, recommend, and select IT solutions that adhere to industry standards and meet the organization’s needs.
End-User Support: Ensure seamless delivery of technology services to users by supporting the organization’s technology strategy and providing optimal service.
Continuous Improvement: Regularly evaluate IT processes, technology, and vendor performance to identify areas for improvement.
Technical Support: Provide tier-2 support for IT help desk issues and troubleshooting.
System Maintenance: Oversee and coordinate the maintenance of critical IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.
Collaboration with Facilities: Work with the Facilities team to implement IT-related infrastructure solutions, such as TV cabling and related projects.
Technology Integration: Leverage current and emerging technologies to meet both present and future infrastructure needs.
Policy Management: Maintain and update IT policies, procedures, and standard operating practices (SOPs).
Technology Research: Continuously explore and evaluate new technologies, hardware, and software to enhance the organization’s IT capabilities.
Compliance & Governance Support: Contribute to the organization’s governance, risk management, and compliance efforts, including adherence to SOX, audits, and cybersecurity protocols.
Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies by participating in required training and safety meetings, and consistently using proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned to support the IT infrastructure needs of the organization.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a similar IT infrastructure or support role.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of large-scale network systems, cybersecurity, and desktop support.
Industry Experience: Previous experience in the oil and gas service industry is a plus but not required.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
Customer Service: Personable with a customer-focused approach to technology support.
Project Management: Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
Microsoft Expertise: Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office 365 suite and Azure platform.
