The Geologist/Engineer in Exploration will work under the direction of the Senior Geologist, with a primary focus on safely executing and participating in Brownfields and Near Mine exploration programs. This role is integral to the success of our exploration efforts, both on the surface and underground, ensuring that all activities are conducted efficiently and in compliance with Newmont’s high standards of safety and environmental stewardship.

DESCRIPTION

  • Participate in and contribute to exploration planning sessions, and execute both surface and underground exploration programs.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by actively engaging with staff and participating in safety programs.
  • Promote environmental stewardship by following Newmont Corporation standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct QA/QC evaluations on various data types, compile data sets, and generate exploration targets.
  • Take part in the execution and tracking of Brownfields and Near Mine programs, as well as other essential project work with minimal supervision.
  • Follow established Global Geology Standards and Guidelines, ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Perform data entry and data management functions as necessary.
  • Work and communicate effectively with internal and external personnel.
  • Write comprehensive reports for review by senior management.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze Near Mine and exploration data and results.
  • Update 3D geologic models using current software, ensuring all data has been validated or reviewed for model construction according to established procedures.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of ArcGIS, with working knowledge of IOgas as an asset.
  • Apply working knowledge of geophysics types with basic interpretative abilities.
  • Contribute to morning huddles, department meetings, and strategy sessions

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences or higher.
  • 3+ years of industry experience in an exploration environment.
  • Must hold a professional registration in Quebec or be able to easily transfer from another province.
  • Strong skills in mineral identification and understanding of mineral systems. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS, Leapfrog, and IOgas is required. Familiarity with database management (Acquire, GED, SQL) is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft software is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an innovative mindset and proven ability to work effectively with others.
  • Demonstrates a comfortable and confident communication style.
  • Clean driving abstract is required.
