SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION

  • The Engineer, Avionics Systems, will be responsible for developing avionics and electrical solutions in response to the need to improve, expand or replace existing platform capabilities or systems, or for new developments, while complying with the certification standards in force for the various commercial programs.
  • Analyze project, production and certification requirements and develop technical solutions for helicopter avionics and electrical systems by applying established standards or developing new concepts.
  • Develop concepts and put forward solutions that are advantageous to projects or to the smooth running of the group
  • Have the ability to lead/advise other engineers in the accomplishment of their tasks
  • Support the establishment and planning of development activities at all stages of a development program, and assist in the creation of project estimates and schedules.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the various avionics and electrical systems on board an aircraft.
  • Ability to work and develop technical solutions alone and share/coordinate with various teams.
  • Support system integration, including component selection, interface compatibility and electrical schematic drafting, and identify system installation requirements.
  • Write system test plans and procedures, analyze results and write qualification reports for functional and certification testing at component and device level.
  • Write analyses to support certification of installed or modified systems (electrical loads, thermal loads, support for safety analyses, EMC, etc.).
  • Support device and Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) testing and troubleshooting.
  • Support the generation of presentations to customers or suppliers such as Proposal, PDR, CDR, etc,…
  • Support initial device installations (FAI).
  • Review technical documentation from suppliers.
  • The successful candidate will be part of the Commercial Programs team, based in Mirabel, and will report to the Senior Engineering Group.
  • This position requires communication in English with Bell teams outside Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners and customers outside Quebec.

EXIGENCES DU POSTE / QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalauréat en génie électrique/avioniques
  • De 10-14 ans d’expérience pertinente en aérospatiale-
  • Expérience en intégration de systèmes avionique/électriques, développement, essais et certification.
  • Connaissance générale en aéronautique et systèmes avioniques (EFIS, FMS, Auto-pilot, COM/NAV, interface moteur, etc).
  • Connaissance des normes de qualification (RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-254)
  • Connaissance en évaluation de sécurité et fiabilité de système (SAE ARP 4754A, ARP 4761)
  • Connaissance du FAR/AWM 27/527 et/ou FAR/AWM 29/529 souhaitable
  • Bon esprit d’analyse et autonome. Aptitude pour la communication et la rédaction.
  • Capacité de communiquer efficacement en anglais (oral et écrit) et en français.
  • Bonne éthique de travail et motivation personnelle.
  • Ce poste nécessite des communications en anglais avec les équipes de Bell hors Québec et/ou ses fournisseurs, partenaires et clients hors Québec.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in electrical/avionics engineering.

  • 10-14 years of relevant aerospace experience
  • Experience in avionics/electrical systems integration, development, testing and certification.
  • General knowledge of aeronautics and avionics systems (EFIS, FMS, Auto-pilot, COM/NAV, engine interface, etc).
  • Knowledge of qualification standards (RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-254).
  • Knowledge of safety assessment and system reliability (SAE ARP 4754A, ARP 4761)
  • Knowledge of FAR/AWM 27/527 and/or FAR/AWM 29/529 desirable.
  • Good analytical skills and autonomous. Good communication and writing skills
  • Excellent command of French is required
  • Excellent command of English is required for this position, as it involves communication in English with Bell teams outside of Quebec and/or its suppliers, partners, and clients outside of Quebec.
  • Good work ethic and self-motivation.
