Description:
The Injury and Violence Epidemiologist III performs highly advanced research and epidemiological work in the area of Injury and Prevention in the Community Health Improvement Division. This position is located in Austin, Texas and is eligible to telework full-time.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serves as the primary liaison on the data and data quality of programs and provides consultation, presentations, and troubleshooting.
- Develops and implements advanced epidemiologic investigations following new or standardized scientific policies/protocols.
- Oversees data abstraction, prepares data quality reports, and ensures data quality meets or exceeds defined criteria.
This position requires strong project management skills to organize major projects and meet deadlines and strong technical writing skills to communicate project and research information clearly and succinctly to state and federal agencies. Candidates must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners, work in a team environment, and feel comfortable making recommendations for program improvement to a variety of audiences.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES:
Knowledge of principles and methods of epidemiology, scientific methods, data abstraction, and statistical concepts and methods and their application to surveillance and research.
Skill in analyzing large sets, the use of computer software package applications (SAS), and in the development of procedures to monitor and evaluate progress in achieving project objectives.
Ability to develop and effectively deliver training and technical assistance about research/data methods and procedures, to facilitate meeting agendas, and to interpret complex statistical data to develop measuring instruments with respect to reliability, relevance, and validity.
