JOB DESCRIPTION
The assignment for Development & Innovation is to find new opportunities and turn them into value for the many. Guided by the Range & Communication strategy, we lead transformation programs to develop new business capabilities, range innovation project and product development contributing to brand positioning, growing business, lower costs, and a more circular and sustainable offer.
We have an exciting innovation agenda ahead of us and are now looking for new colleagues to join us.
In our project teams, the boundaries between different roles are less strict. What is needed is a combination of expertise as engineer and a strong drive to lead yourself and creating progress in your assignment together with our teams and our innovation networks. We want you to contribute from your strengths and be willing to stretch and learn in new areas needed to solve problems and move forward in your project. This means that you may need to wear different hats at certain times in the project and work together with and through colleagues across the business to find better ways of doing things. You will work with one or a few parallel projects, from exploration to concept creation and product development.
As an Innovation Engineer your key responsibilities will include:
- Verify conceptual ideas by developing desirable, sustainable, and affordable solutions and products to be verified through sales on test markets (or other relevant ways).
- Lead the engineering development process.
- Work cross-functionally from an engineering perspective; plan, execute and deliver full engineering scope.
- Take responsibility for mechanical design and creating all necessary documentation.
- Be the speaking partner from an engineering perspective towards all stakeholders.
- Utilizing the full potential of the engineering network in CBR and the total value chain.
- Ensure that all projects deliver to scope and set objectives and goals.
- Creating and/or contributing to new ideas and concepts.
- Scouting for and applying new technologies to create ideas, opportunities or concepts and solutions.
Organizationally you belong to the Innovation Development team within Range & Product Innovation. Your daily work will happen as member of one or a few of our project teams.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Yes, we need you who are well-rounded engineers, highly skilled in technical projects and with a broad experience and interest in materials and construction.
- Deep knowledge about product development ways of working and tools e.g., DNP, DNS.
- Good knowledge and experience working in 3D modelling tools and virtual product.
- Good knowledge and understanding of end-to-end value chain, business operations, and the prerequisites of supply and retail operations
- Good knowledge, experience and passion for home furnishings, customer needs, design, technology, style and trends.
- Deep knowledge about material, industry trends and cost-drivers, being in the fore front of new technical solutions/insights.
- Proven ability in leading test and verification processes that delivers results (from exploration to product development and deployment).
- Understanding of how and when to include Patent expertise to leverage and/or protect IKEA intellectual property rights.
