Job Summary
In-service inspection of pressurised equipment, tanks and piping systems to meet regulatory and customer requirements. Responsible for provision of inspection services to clients in the above regions.

Job Description

  • Drafting and reviewing Written Schemes of Examination (WSE).
  • Identifying plant preparation requirements from the WSE.
  • Examination of equipment in accordance with the WSE.
  • Undertake NDT – ultrasonic thickness checks, and magnetic particle & dye penetrant flaw detection.
  • Coordination of third-party NDT providers for extensive requirements or specialist techniques.
  • Preparation of clear written reports supported by photographs.
  • Assessment of deterioration.
  • Reviewing design calculations and grading defects.
  • Coordinating repairs.
  • Participation in Risk Based Inspection studies.

Education

  • HNC/Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Incorporated Engineer status (desirable).

Experience & Skills

  • Mechanical Engineering background.
  • Understanding of engineering principals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures.
  • Courage to make (and defend) difficult decisions.
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the capability to work independently.
  • Ambition to learn and progress.
  • Understanding of fabrication processes and NDT is desirable.
  • Experience of chemical and/or oil & gas industry is desirable.
