Salary Range: $28.085 - $35.195 Hourly

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety requires a permanent full-time Instructional Assistant in the areas of Physical Education/Computer Education, Visual Arts and Carpentry and Construction within the Educational component at the Paul Dojack Youth Centre. The center provides a developmental program and care and custody for youth aged twelve to eighteen years held under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Successful candidates will work as part of a team to provide youth opportunities for personal development through counselling and support in a secure and open custody setting.
Under the direction of the Supervising Teacher-Therapist, the Instructional Assistant supports the implementation of programs in physical education, woodworking, visual arts, and computer literacy. The role requires a solid understanding of LANschool, basic computer troubleshooting skills, knowledge of sports, and familiarity with shop maintenance. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with a team to provide youth with opportunities for personal development through counseling and support in a secure and open custody setting. Qualified candidates must have experience working in a physical education, woodworking, visual art and computer classroom setting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Effective January 15, 2024, the COPAT requirement for employment will be replaced by a comprehensive medical evaluation completed by a licensed medical practitioner.
