  • Associates degree or applicable technical/trade school certification in electronics
  • Relevant work experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics
  • Two years of relevant work experience in an educational environment

DESCRIPTION

Instructional Support

  • Provides support to the Director of Instructional Labs and to the Engineering Lab Instructors for laboratory-based courses specifically on equipment-related issues.

    Teaches students the physical skills required for lab course work as relates to equipment usage. Assists with Instructional lab informational sessions several times each semester for equipment usage.

DESCRIPTION

Instrument Room Operations

  • Assists faculty and students on selection of appropriate electronics, electrical, or electro-mechanical components for project specific and research needs.
  • Provides demonstrations and procedural information to students, faculty, and staff concerning operation and maintenance of electronic instruments.
  • Issues instruments, equipment, and supplies to students, faculty, and staff from instrument room inventory. Maintains inventory, making necessary repairs and/or recommending replacement when needed.
  • Receives, logs and coordinates distribution of package deliveries.
  • Maintains Thayer’s key inventory.

DESCRIPTION

Facilities Operations

  • Provides assistance to facilities staff with office moves and function set-ups.
  • Provides copy room coverage when needed.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Facilities, the Instructional Support and Electronics Technician advises faculty/staff on use of electronics and/or electro-mechanical components for specific needs, and instructs students with electronic and/or electro-mechanical components for projects relating to coursework and research. Serves as primary contact for all Instrument Room functions.
