Position Summary:
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) is responsible for the creation of training products from the development phase through the evaluation phase of each training project. They work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop engaging and effective instructor-led training (ILTs), interactive computer-based training (CBTs), and other training materials. The ISD leverages adult learning principles to ensure optimal learner engagement and retention. They also create custom graphics and animations. They help create assessments to measure course effectiveness and continuously improve courses based on feedback. Additionally, they help proofread and edit documents related to training.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:

• BA/BS in instructional design, education, graphic design, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in instructional design or curriculum development.
• Strong understanding of the ADDIE instructional design model.
• Highly proficient with a variety of multimedia tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate Storyline, Canva, and We Video.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, PPT, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.)
• Experience working with SMEs.
• Ability to create graphics and images.
• Experience developing assessments and conducting evaluations.
• Video editing
• Experience using the (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) SCORM standard.
• Military experience either as a service member or working on military projects.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance and to access Controlled Unclassed Information.
• Experience working with classified materials.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Ability to travel to Groton HQ on short notice.
• Hybrid expectation: 2 days per week in Groton, CT headquarters required.

• Establish and follow established style guides in the development of training materials.
• Develop instructional design plans that meet the needs of the target audience.
• Design and develop engaging and effective training materials, including computer-based training.
• Leverage adult learning principles to ensure optimal learner engagement and retention.
• Create custom graphics, illustrations, animations, and interactions for use in presentation software.
• Generate/edit video content.
• Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop quality learning objectives, then design training materials to meet those objectives, based on customer input.
• Develop assessments to measure learning outcomes.
• Proofread training documents, trip reports, etc.
• Maintain project documentation and course folders.
• Maintain version control.
• Stay up to date on the latest instructional design theories and practices.
