Description:

SAIT’s School of Manufacturing and Automation, and School of Transportation provides the skills-based training and development to prepare students for a career in Alberta’s rapidly growing transportation, manufacturing and automation sectors. We provide applied learning in action through our trades and technology programs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a dynamic, motivated Instructor in the Non-Destructive Testing program. This is a fulltime position specializing in Radiography at Main Campus in Calgary.
Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Instructor is accountable for promoting a positive and interactive learning environment with hands-on learning. In addition, you will work with students and faculty by attending recruitment initiatives and school events and maintain strong industry relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS



    • At least 5 years’ experience in the NDT field and familiarity with multiple sectors of work across Canada.

    • Minimum CGSB Level 2 Certified in Radiography (RT) and CEDO
    • Candidates with additional CGSB Level 2 Certification in MT, and PT, are preferred, certifications in other NDT methods are assets
    • Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) experience would also be an asset
    • Previous experience in classroom instruction, examination, and mentoring especially in the NDT context would be an asset
    • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with advanced computer skills in MS Office
    • The ability to work with people in small teams and have the initiative to work independent of supervision
    • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

      • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint

      • Strong time management and organizational skills
      • Aptitude for mentoring and coaching others
      • Comfortable with public speaking, and able to convey course subjects to diverse students and learning styles
      • Possess a positive, respectful attitude, and a high commitment to student success and collaboration

      Responsibilities:



        • Prepare and present training material for lectures, labs and other assignments

        • Evaluate and record student progress, achievement and grades
        • Provide ongoing support, guidance and advice to learners
        • Develop and maintain course outlines, profiles and curriculum
        • Participate in curriculum and program reviews
        • Maintain a safe, and tidy work environment
        • Ensuring the safe use of radiation and radioactive materials for NDT programs
