The Opportunity
Keyano College is currently seeking a full time Steamfitter/Pipefitter Instructor. Reporting to the Chair of Metal Trades, the successful candidate will be required to prepare and instruct quality lessons and complete demonstrations as directed in curriculum and course outlines in all aspects of the Steamfitter/Pipefitter program.
Note: this is not a remote or hybrid work opportunity, you will be required to work on campus and relocate to Fort McMurray, AB. Preference will be given to candidates currently living in Fort McMurray.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Primarily teach students in related courses across the curriculum
  • Maintaining office hours and student mentorship/engagement
  • Maintaining professional competence and knowledge of subject matter
  • Develop/revise/update courses, including consulting with the Chair, Program Coordinator, faculty, advisory committees, and potential employers and students.
  • Engage in program development, assisting with the program coordinators, and participating in committee work in support of the department, division, or College.
  • Responsible for developing teaching materials for individualized and group instruction, and incorporate technology into the learning process, where applicable.
  • Carrying out regularly scheduled instruction, ensuring students awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques, as well as, recruitment, tutoring and academic counseling of students.
  • Teaching responsibilities may include theory and/or lab. This may involve evenings and weekends on occasion which will be scheduled in advance

Qualifications

  • Candidates must possess a Red Seal Journeyperson Steamfitter/Pipefitter Certification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-journeyperson relevant experience.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent interpersonal and motivation skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Preference may be given to those candidates who have previous teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.
  • Adult Education Certification would be considered an asset.
  • Preference may be given to Dual Ticket candidates with Welder, Plumber or Gasfitter.
